Cosa Rosa - Kein Zufall (LP-1985)

The biography of Cosa Rosa is equally short as it is sad. Spliff keyboarder and Yamaha endorser Reinhold Heil teamed up with his pretty girlfriend Rosa Precht, forming the synth-pop duo Cosa Rosa. Much to the surprise of the critics, their debut effort Traumstation (1983) was both innovative and radio-oriented. The two musicians meant to avoid apparent ties with another parallel project of Reinhold, the discovery and production of the highly successful Nena. "Rosa auf Hawai", the single culled from the debut album even entered the German charts.

The duo easily overcame the obstacle of a second album, and Kein Zufall (1985) spawned the single hit "Millionenmal". Up to this day it is, with certainty, Cosa Rosa's best-selling single effort. After the release of their third, self-titled long-player Cosa Rosa (1986), Rosa Precht fell ill with stomach cancer. After battling her illness for years Rosa died age 39 in 1990. Around 1990 and after the final demise of Spliff, Reinhold Heil relocated to the United States. He is married now and continues to work as a soundtrack composer. He also runs the group Pale 3 there.

Speedtwins - It's More Fun To Compete (LP, 1978)

Begin 1978 verschijnt de door hardrock-dj Alfred Lagarde geproduceerde lp It's More Fun To Compete op rood vinyl. De plaat klinkt veel te vet voor een punkband. Later dat jaar wordt de plaat in een andere mix uitgebracht door Philips. Ook brengt Philips een single uit met een versie van The Who's My Generation. Later in 1978 verschijnt de Football Song op single. In 1978 maakt drummer Nico Groen de stap naar de bluesformatie Flavium. De bezetting wijzigt met naast vocalist Jody de muzikanten Carlo van Rijswijk (drums), Mike van Dalm (bas) en Peter Presser (gitaar). Van Rijswijk en Van Dalm worden in hetzelfde jaar nog vervangen door drummer Theo Outhuyse en bassist Ton van Rossum. Deze bezetting brengt de single Blackmail/Bomb In The Jukebox uit en is onder meer te zien in voorprogramma's van Herman Brood en Teaser. Ton van Rossum verlaat de band vanwege muzikale meningsverschillen en wordt vervangen door Frank Cambach. Als diens vriend Erwin 'Ernie Wallbanger' de Ruiter bas komt spelen, neemt Cambach de plaats over van gitarist Peter Presser. Leen Barbier duikt later op als zanger van Turbo en in 1983 speelt hij kortstondig bij Diesel. In de loop van de jaren tachtig is zijn naam verbonden aan de bands Rotor en No Exqze. Aan Speedtwins komt definitief een einde als zanger Jody Daniel begin jaren tachtig met zijn motor verongelukt.
